Of the Moon and Velvet (2022)

Overview

A short film and multimedia project by artist Sammy Baloji. The work documents the creation of bronze sculptures inspired by pre-colonial Congolese palm-fiber fabrics—housed in the Museum of Civilizations in Rome—and connects them to historical descriptions by Galileo Galilei and Duarte Pacheco Pereira.
